Pinocchio Art Calendar 2010 Contest Rules

The Italian American Cultural Society will be accepting illustrations and drawings of the original Adventures of Pinocchio . These images of the marionette that wanted to become a real boy are not to be produced in the “Disney” version of Pinocchio but are to be drawn in the format of the original illustrations as shown on the Flyer and on the Pinocchiofestival.com web page. In addition, the following rules will apply:

  1. All entries must be submitted by 5:00PM Eastern Standard Time on November 26, 2009. Any late entry will be disqualified.

  2. Entries may be in black and white or in full color.

  3. Entries must be on 8 ˝ x 11.0 white paper and may be in landscape or portrait format.

  4. Entries containing improper content or suggestive situations will be disqualified by the judges.

  5. Entries will be in three categories including:

    1. Third Grade through Eighth Grade

    2. Ninth Grade through Twelfth Grade

    3. College and adult group

  6. All entries must be accompanied by an official entry form.

  7. All entries must be identified on the back of the entry with the artist’s name, address, phone number, and school affiliation.

  8. Entries may be submitted electronically but must then be followed by a “hard copy” of the artwork.

  9. All the submitted art will become the sole property of the Italian American Cultural Society. The Artist will have his/her name (signature, mark or symbol) affixed to the front of the art in the lower right hand corner.

  10. The winning entries will be published in a 2010 calendar which will be available for purchase.

  11. All winners will be the guests of the IACS at an Awards Banquet where the winning art will be displayed and the Artists will receive their award certificates.

  12. The decision of the judges will be final. Judges will include local art teachers, artists, and other personnel depending on the universe of the entries.
     


Pinocchio Stories 2009 Contest Rules

The Italian American Cultural Society will be accepting original fictional stories about The Adventures of Pinocchio that are written in the Pinocchio tradition and are “new” adventures of the marionette that wanted to become a real boy. The following rules are to be followed to become eligible to have your story printed:

  1. All stories must be submitted by 5:00PM Eastern Standard Time on November 26, 2009. Any late entry will be disqualified.

  2. Stories may only be 184 words long (only words that are 4 or more letters are counted).

  3. Stories containing improper content, words or phrases will be disqualified by the judges.

  4. Entries will be in three categories:

    1. Third Grade to Eight Grade Group

    2. Ninth Grade to Twelfth Grade Group

    3. Open college and adult group

  5. All entries must be typewritten on standard letter size white paper (8.5” x 11.0”) and must be double spaced.

  6. All entries must include the name, address, phone number and school affiliation.

  7. All entries must be accompanied by a standard entry form.

  8. Entries may be submitted electronically but must be followed up by a hard copy.

  9. The winning entries will be published in a booklet entitled Pinocchio Stories 2009 , which will be available for purchase from the Italian American Cultural Society.

  10. All entries will become the property of the Italian American Cultural Society.

  11. The decision of the judges will be final. Judges will include Journalists, Media Professionals and teachers from the local area.
