Executive Director’s Corner – Sept 2010
I guess we cannot complain about the heat because I remember commenting about the cold in the winter. I guess that Mother Nature is proving that she can do whatever she wants – whenever she wants.
It has been another exciting and busy month at YOUR Cultural Center. We continue to be the choice of many celebrations including weddings, showers, birthdays, anniversaries, memorial luncheons and various celebrations for many different reasons. I sincerely hope you are taking advantage of the many opportunities to attend these special events and thereby enjoying our offerings while supporting our efforts as well.
Our Nonna’s Nite coupled with Crusin’ Italian Style had its final night on August 3rd and on that night we had almost 500 people for dinner and over 170 cars displayed. Can’t wait until next year when it will grow from there. Your Center has committed to bring live entertainment to the Nonna’s Nite on the second Tuesday of each month so mark your calendars to be sure you bring your friends that night. BUT you better make reservations!
By the time you read this our Ice Cream Social will be over. I have been privy to some of the planning for that event and I know that it is planned to be very entertaining for all who attend. I can only hope you did.
In September our Language classes begin. What finer gift can you give to a child or a grandchild than the opportunity to learn the language of our native land. Again our classes will be lead by Maria Sugamelli, Gemma Cimma and as a special treat, Gina LaLama (a former student and now a teacher in the Chippewa Valley Schools) will be working with some of our Children. Gina has helped with the “Celebration of Italy for Children” –a presentation that has been well received at a number of libraries over the past two years. Nice to have Gina as part of our staff.
