The purpose of the Library/Archives of the Italian American
Cultural Society is to collect, arrange, describe, manage, and
preserve print and audio-visual materials relative to the
Italian American community in Detroit and Michigan. The history
of the community and the Cultural Society is preserved in this
way.
Proper management and conservation preserves
records such as books, letters, papers, publications, journals,
Bibles, photographic and audio-visual records of our community.
These resources are available to members of the community and to
researchers. Exhibitions of Italian American activities and
history have been mounted using these resources. Schools, clubs,
and other organizations as well as individuals may draw on these
resources to further the study of our history and culture.
We solicit materials from the community to
add to our collection. It is important that records and
artifacts be preserved for future generations.
Please consider donating any materials to the
Archive Library by calling: Italian American Cultural Society at
586 226-1582 or contact Phillip Adamo at 586 778-7330.
